4th of July: Stolen from Erica

A combination of laziness and technology failure make anything more than a cell phone picture difficult for me these days.  Thankfully Nick's sister Erica is an excellent photographer.  Furthermore, she shares her photos in a timely fashion.

Here are a few highlights from the Fourth of July at Nick's parents house from her camera.   The trendy blog thing would be for me to say it was a great weekend filled with good food and fun family!  In reality the family was fun, but we spent one afternoon in the emergency room getting 7 stitches in Fisher's top lip and I was tired.  Very tired.  I guess your first trip to the ER as a parent will do that to you . . .

From the pictures everyone else had a great time.  Including the injured little man, who took his first stand up paddle board and kayak rides (thanks uncle Jason).  Proving that a few stitches are harder on mom than toddler.

Fisher loves fish.  Thankfully his uncles and father love to fish and bring him lots of live fish to view

What Happened to June?

Seriously what happened to June?  According to the blog . . . Nothing.  In reality we moved to a new home on Spring Lake and began construction on our kitchen/great room.  It pretty much looks like we haven't moved in even though we've lived there a month. Fun times.

I traveled to Vail to see Juan complete with a solo stay at the Four Seasons and dinner with the brother at Le Tour.  It was 24 hours of luxury- worlds away from normal life.

Nick then met me in Aspen for Nick Kulkarni, Nick's business partner and very good friend's wedding held at the Aspen Mountain Club at the top of the Gondola.  Dancing at 12,000 ft isn't for pregnant ladies, sliders, hot chocolate and blankets on the midnight gondola ride down the mountain most definitely are.

Meanwhile Fisher enjoyed a stay with my parents in Chicago.  Where he managed to spray a bottle of red wine on the kitchen ceiling.  I didn't ask about the specifics.

We met Baby Charlie, my friend Alexis's  new baby.  As I entered my third trimester and as she exited month 2 postpartum, we collectively decided the picture was cuter without us in it.

We attended the Harvard Business School class of 2008 reunion in Boston.  Where we (didn't) attend such relevant panels as how to secure board placements and raising kids with wealth. If there's one thing HBS is, it's consistent. . .  Seeing our Dallas/HBS friends, the Shavers, was a definite highlight.

While we were busy trying to explain why we lived in West Michigan of all places to a bunch of coastal centric friends at the reunion, Fisher enjoyed a relaxing (for him) visit with the Lardos at Long Lake.  Swimming and boating maybe more my speed these days than panels and cocktail parties.

Fisher and I then packed up the car (who am I kidding I didn't unpack the entire first three weeks of June) and took a quick trip to Columbus to visit with Granny, Chris and Chris, and Martha.  We enjoyed all the Columbus classics like the park at St. Agatha, the pool at Scioto, the zoo and Tommy's Pizza.  It was a very fun visit, I only wish we could come back again sooner.  And yes we rock Christmas jams in June.  Remind me next year to buy less seasonal merchandise.

Toward the end of the month, my cousin Kelly came to visit from Washington DC to help with Fisher.  We made it to Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City amongst the local Grand Haven tourist sites like the beach, lighthouse and strawberry picking.  Yes I live within 10 minutes of many u pick farms.

To round off the month Erica and her boyfriend visited from Mexico.  She always makes an effort to see us when she is stateside and we always love having her.  We only wish she lived closer.  It was so much fun, I forgot to take a picture!

Back at home, construction progresses.  Slowly.  Very slowly.  I also move slowly.  Very slowly as I am feeling quite pregnant.  Can't you tell by our relaxing month?

Mostly I try to hang around. . .

And nap with the little man as much as possible.

I promise to do better with the blog this month.  Maybe.
